A HISTORY OF THE ASSEMBLIES

The story has often been told that upon the signing of the constitution, reporters asked Ben Franklin, "What do we have, a monarchy or a republic?"...to which he replied, "a republic - if you can keep it." Over the years, many have argued about the truthfulness of this exchange, but the point that cannot be argued is that our founding fathers gave us a Republic. And it is our responsibility to keep it!

 

Before the Civil War, this country was meeting in assemblies - at the county and city / township levels. Regularly, they would meet (usually with their churches, after services), to discuss their grievances and directives that they would issue to their elected officials. When the Civil War began, these assemblies dissolved, due to a focus on the war.

 

In 1863, during the Civil War,   Lincoln declared martial law under General Order 100, also referred to as the Lieber Code of 1863. This turned all private property and civil liberty rights over to the military. According to this Lieber Code, "the commander of the army must leave it to the ultimate treaty of peace to settle the permanency of this change." A peace treaty was never signed. Lee surrendered to Grant, and over the next 16 months, other southern generals surrendered to northern generals. However, the commander of the army, Abraham Lincoln, never signed a peace treaty. By not signing a Peace Treaty he perpetuated the Lieber Code and the illusion that the United States of America was still based on the Constitution when in actuality, we were, and still are, under military rule.

 

In 1871, an illegal Congress, which was never voted into office, passed illegal Act of 1871, which made the united states a Corporation with a new constitution and a new corporate government.  The original constitutional government was vacated to become dormant, but it was never terminated.

The new constitution had to be ratified  BY WE THE PEOPLE according to the original constitution, BUT IT NEVER WAS. 

 

The original form of government by the people, is founded on principles taught in The Law of Nations, an internationally recognized 'manual' for establishing republican governments. The people who came here from Europe, as well as the Natives of this land, knew of the principles taught in this book, and that in order to form government under authority of the people, a Bi-Lateral Social Compact would need to be written. The body politic formed by the people, would need to sign this Compact, making them equal in right. This process was well-known and established the people in assemblies.
